BCS (Brooklyn Community Services)

Brooklyn Community Services will be providing our after-school program for the 2025–2026 school year. The program is available to students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grades.  Please see the flyers for information on how to register your child. DYCD - Grades 6-8

The Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) offers a variety of programs designed to support the academic, social, and emotional development of middle school students in Grades 6–8. These programs provide safe, engaging, and enriching afterschool and summer experiences that include homework help, arts, sports, leadership activities, STEM learning, and college and career exploration. DYCD initiatives help students build confidence, strengthen life skills, and stay on track for high school success.

Steel Band

Students explore the vibrant sounds of the Caribbean through hands-on Steel Pan (Steel Drum) music sessions. In our Steel Band program, youth learn to play melodic rhythms, build teamwork, and experience the joy of live performance. Whether beginners or experienced players, all participants get to showcase their skills in energetic group ensembles that celebrate culture, creativity, and musical expression.

Visual Arts

In the Visual Arts program, students unleash their creativity through painting, drawing, sculpture, collage, and more. Guided by experienced teaching artists, youth explore different materials, styles, and techniques while expressing their ideas and emotions through art. The program fosters imagination, confidence, and artistic skill — with opportunities to showcase their work in exhibitions or end-of-program showcases.

Cheerleading

Our Cheerleading program builds school spirit, teamwork, and confidence through high-energy routines that combine dance, chants, and stunts. Students learn the fundamentals of cheerleading — including motion technique, jumps, and basic tumbling — all while developing coordination, discipline, and leadership. Whether performing at events or just practicing together, participants build strong bonds and have fun cheering each other on.

HAUP (Haitian American United for Progress)

HAUP (Haitian American United for Progress) :
Provides extended day programs for students in grades 6-8. Purpose: HAUP offers extended day programs, which are additional learning or enrichment sessions beyond the regular school day. Target Audience: These programs are specifically available for students in grades 6–8 (typically middle school students).Goal: To support students' academic, social, and personal development through structured after-school activities. Brooklyn Children's Museum

Provides extended day programs for students in grades K-5. The Brooklyn Children’s Museum offers an Extended Day Program for students in grades K–5.Held on campus each weekday from school dismissal until early evening, the program blends learning and play. Children engage in hands-on workshops in science, art, and cultural studies using museum galleries and collections. Guided free-play activities foster social skills, creative expression, and physical development. A nutritious snack is provided daily to keep young learners energized and focused.

Girl Scouts of America

Provides an extended day program for girls in grades K-6. Girl Scouts of the USA is a leading youth organization dedicated to building girls of courage, confidence, and character. Through a range of badge-based programs—from outdoor adventures and STEM exploration to entrepreneurship with the iconic Girl Scout Cookie Program—members grow leadership skills and lifelong friendships. Girls in grades K–12 work in small troop communities guided by trained adult volunteers, taking on hands-on projects that serve their local neighborhoods and foster global citizenship. Boy Scouts of America
